I’m From The Government – I’m Here To Help
How many jokes have you heard about that phrase “I’m From The Governement – I’m Here To Help?” How many times have the jokes indicated that it struck fear into the hearts of farmers, land owners and home owners?
Many of you may not be aware of the flooding that took place along the Gulf Coast early last week. Parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Florida experienced record rainfall totals and record breaking flood levels. Many friends and acquaintances had damage to their homes and vehicles and some family members experienced complete losses of everything – homes, clothes, bedding, childrens’ toys, appliances… the list is never ending.
I never thought I would see the day that I could expect to say anything positive about our government agencies responsible for responding to these types of natural disasters but we continue to receive word that FEMA responded quickly and with compassion. Substantial deposits are being made by FEMA into the bank accounts of many.
To some extent the possessions can be replaced and the homes rebuilt but most important is that families are receiving genuine and speedy help in their time of need.
