A Chicago couple is suing Chicago Police after they were allegedly mistaken for burglars and arrested while trying to repair a lock on a vacant home’s door.
According to the suit, filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court, Jonathan Cooper was assisted by his wife Ashley Cooper on Jan. 29 while rendering services as the owner and operator of J-Coop Corp., which provides property preservation services to Safeguard Properties, Inc.

I am sure a lot of us have been close to the situation at hand. I was almost arrested for the exact thing over Labor Day Weekend. One of the officers had the nerve to ask me why I was working at 8pm on a holiday. So in turn I asked him the same question. Ultimately, we were left to finish our job of securing a totally stripped out house. Stripped to the bones, I mean, no floors and now walls, just beams to walk on. And the neighbors were concerned about theft in this house? We were only left alone because they had a call and had bigger fish to fry somewhere. That one officer took one more jab at me before he left and informed me when he came back through, he was going to tow my vehicle that was parked in front of a fire hydrant. I actually told him, well I would have been done and gone 45 mins ago if it wasnt for me and my partner being detained. After he left, I looked up and down the street and saw no other opening to park and went about my work and finished in 5 mins.
Now that is too funny. But you have to wonder who was calling the police or where were they when the floors and walls, etc. was taken.
